About Me

I'm an author and freelance journalist, venturing into the world of 'blogs' for the first time. Although I usually write from dreams, these are purely formed from my own opinions, observations and general silliness. If you're feeling brave, why not read a couple? Or if you want to go back to the safety of nice, familiar books, venture back to the main site.

Fragments (of the past few days) - Posted on 6/14/2009

I'm on my own, and in a dark dream, really. There's an air of overall silent horror, but the silence slowly filters out and sounds, however distant, can be heard.

I'm in the mall, as the zombie terror starts to unfold. That's right, zombies. Another dream about zombies – I just love the confusion when I wake up in the morning and remember the flesh tearing horror chase, especially when set in an underground mall (when did we start using the word ‘mall' anyway - feels so American).

On Friday it was my cousin Thomas's funeral. A very sad day. I decided to go because it seemed like the right thing to do. He was only 36, and drowned in a tragic accident a few weeks ago, along with three of his friends.

I don't know what it is about funerals, but seeing other people I care about so upset always seems to have more of an effect on me than anything else. I feel terrible for his parents too, my aunt and uncle. We've not been particularly close recently (the last few years or so) so it was sad to have to see them like that. It really upset me, and made me think about a lot of things.

Today I tried to ‘feel better' in a manner of speaking. It was a beautiful day, very hot (and good thing I remembered my SPF) so we went on an adventure. Walked pretty far along the waterside, and discovered Glasgow Green along with The People's Palace Museum.

It's fascinating, seeing such old pieces of people's everyday lives mixed together with things like Gameboys and Irn Bru. It makes me feel old. I'll be 24 in August – so old! I'm laughing here, because I know some of you will read that and I know what you're thinking.

On the way back, I saw something I really should not have seen; I happened to look at entirely the wrong moment, when a young lady – let's call her that – was for some reason, pulling up her thong. What on earth she was doing naked from the waist down one can only guess, but then, that's Glasgow!

As I spiral back down into thoughts of the past few days, I'm sitting here listening to music and pondering my next steps in the world. It somehow feels significant. Not forgetting the fact that I'll be dragged kicking and screaming into the future anyway, I might as well make the odd plan.

Well, as you can see from the picture, at least I have my little ratface to make me smile.

Bronwen out.

Makes sense to me, you just need to work through your loss and figure out where you want to go next.

Omg, what is up with the women in Glasgow?! No offence!

I'm sorry you had to go through the funeral. It really hurts to see others, and then yourself, in that emotional state. The only thing other I can say is wow. Why does she have her panties down in public?

That's not a rat. And I can now because I had two tame ones. Logical conclusion is that the beast can not have a rat face. But I can agree that it is fairly cute. The scene you depict with the half naked lady reminds me of a story that made the news in Germany a week or two ago. People had seen a naked woman chained to a car and had called the police, thinking there was something amazingly wrong. Turns out the woman and her guy had decided on an impromptu "hot" photo shoot, LOL.

You're right, Lazy - it's a hamster. But I like to call her 'ratface' and 'ratskin' because I think that's cute. Hell knows why.

Enter you comments.. I'm afraid that I found the content immature and purile, surpassed only by the poor grammar and punctuation.Any claim to authorship surely requires a sound knowledge of the English language. In conclusion, did you borrow your pen name from the American academic and writer on women's issues?

Comment from B.
Which writer and American namesake do you mean?? And Cassandra - it's just a blog, although I do generally stick to the house style in which my paper strictly adhered to while I worked there.

Cassandra this is a blog, what the hell are you on about!! Firstly this is Bronwen's site and she can write what she wants. Second, if you were to read the page carefully you would see that Bronwen states the blog contents are "my own opinions, observations and general silliness". Going by most other comments, people seem to like reading these blogs so go take a running jump. I would be intrested to see what better things you have written to warrant such pathetic and unfair comments. P.s You forgot a space after "poor grammar and punctuation." :p

I don't see anything immature or 'puerile' about Bronwen's blog, it is a joy to read.

Cassandra's comment seems to be of as much use to the world as smoking a tampon. And I should know. I tried, and it didn't work out.

I don't see anything immature about Bronwen in the slightest, and thanks to 'a fellow b' for pointing out the correct spelling of puerile.

No way am I going to buy your book now, escaping dreams sounds rubbish. I agree with Cas. You and the content are immature. You should also try to write like a professional not a teenager.

Thank you for your comment, P, you are entitled to your opinion and I welcome it. But remember, this is a blog and it's inclined to be an outlet for any kind of immaturity/moaning/whining I wish to get out of my system - because wouldn't you just hate that to go into my books instead? Not that you'd read those.

Personally I don't see anything "immature" and isnt life without immaturity going to be dull anyway..... i'm lost for words here! I keep trying to see where the immaturity is :s but I don't! but even if I did again.. its a blog and you can't judge her books over what she "blogs" its totally different!!!
