About Me

I'm an author and freelance journalist, venturing into the world of 'blogs' for the first time. Although I usually write from dreams, these are purely formed from my own opinions, observations and general silliness. If you're feeling brave, why not read a couple? Or if you want to go back to the safety of nice, familiar books, venture back to the main site.

Hello. Can you Hear Me? - Posted on 6/1/2009Procrastination: a trait we writers seem to have programmed into us. In fact, the more I speak to other writers, the more truth I think that statement holds. And I?ve got to admit; I am the great procrastinator.
I?m around midway (guessing here) through my third novel, Grassmarket Blood. And so far, I?m not having any problems ? apart from one. I love my characters, the plot seems to be coming along not too badly, I have some great scenes in my mind still to come, and not too many blank places. I?m not planning too much, because when I plan, things never seem to turn out the way I want them to anyway.
So what is my problem? Can you guess already?
So far, while writing this novel, I have; written a tonne of articles on saints (which I got paid for, so not too bad), almost killed myself at the gym (which I argue, what doesn?t kill me just makes me stronger, and in this case fitter too), wrote a 10,000 word short story, entered said story into a competition, dreamt up a business with a friend, and when that failed dreamt up another website/business in its place, indulged in some science fiction, doodled on some canvas, organised a LOT of publicity for Nightswallow (but that?s required), joined some writers things and generally got gatecrashed the Glasgow writers' scene, cheated on Sonic 2, joined Twitter (and got confused - profile is here: BronwenWPhoenix ) got in touch with ***** ****** (novel-related, and he is lovely) which subsequently led me to write him the most ridiculous fictional biography ever, spent a lot of time sleeping and dreaming away my time (and even experienced some full-lucidity moments, which can also be called research), updated my photos, and even wrote this blog.
Now, I really need to step up the pace.

Comment from Jeremy Jones Isn't that the truth, procrastination is a writer's best friend and worst enemy. It sucks that the business idea fell through, but with your talent, you can bounce back.
