Blogging? What's That Then? - Posted on 4/29/2009
So, as you might have read, I'm still relatively new to the world of blogging. So what's it all about? Sharing all the important stuff, and even the small stuff, in an amusing/entertaining way for the entire world to read? Or a more serious journal that one keeps forever and can share with friends/relatives who live across the other side of the ‘pond'. Either way, everyone seems to be at it these days. Only last week two people have even written blogs about me!
Nici Ford named me as her ‘favourite new author' (thanks Nici!) here.
And Ian Hunter is – very generously – claiming I've ‘conquered Scotland' here.
Is it a bit cliché to write a blog about blogging? Oh well, I've started, so I'll finish! What makes a good blog successful? Regular updates, an amusing/entertaining author, perhaps with an interesting and/or fresh perspective on world events, maybe? Someone with an interesting life. A celebrity! I'm sure those must be very popular reading material. For example Lindsay Lohan's blog was recently all over the news after her split from Sam Ronson. Will say no more about that!
I'm sure plenty of authors have blogs too. I'd be interested to find out how much information they share with their fans on books they are currently writing; the stresses, the trauma, the joys... I know some are ridiculously secretive.
So far I have decided to keep clear of that kind of topic, although I will say I'm very happy about where I am in the ‘creative process' at the moment. As for blogs, I know I haven't updated this in a while, but I plan to keep mine up and very soon I may become an expert blogger in the making! I won't take this blog too seriously though, and neither should you.
